How to Become a Sponsor for
the Academia Exchange and its programs and services.

Only legal entities, such as corporations, trusts, foundations, fiduciaries, partnerships, academic institutions, colleges, universities and other organizations can be sponsors of the Academia Exchange. No private individuals can be sponsors for any of our programs or activities of the Academia Exchange. (Private individuals who desire to support us can do so through tax-deductible donations. Our Patrons of Science fundraising program is especially designed for that end. For information about that program, please visit our Tax-Deductible/Qualifying Contributions page which can be accessed from the above Navigational Bar heading.)  For United States sponsors, a legal distinction needs to be made between the legal entities sponsors that are non-profit, tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code (such as ourselves or any United States academic or scientific institution or any science foundation and the like) and the rest of the sponsors which are for-profit legal entities. Because of our legal status, the former (i.e., the non-profit legal entities) are entitled to sponsor our programs through what is called "qualifying contributions"; the latter (i.e., the for-profit legal entities) are entitled to sponsor our programs through what is called "tax-deductible contributions". For international sponsors, the applicable laws of the country of origin are in effect.

Regardless of the country of origin, the legal distinction between the profit and non-for-profit entities is important for the Academia Exchange for another reason: the non-profit entities are considered to be privileged entities in the sense that they are entitled to one tenth of the cost that for-profit entities are charged for the same priviledges.

The sponsorship for the Academia Exchange is based on the "territory" that it covers. According to this criteria, three (3) major categories of sponsorship are available as follows:

1. Overall Site General Sponsors --are those interested in sponsoring our entire site. Their name shall be placed in our specially designed banner on our front HomePage immediately beneath our logo heading.

- For profit entities, a one hundred twenty thousand US dollars (US$120,000) tax-deductible contribution is required for this sponsorship category to be kept for one year, a two hundred twenty thousand US dollars (US$220,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required to keep this sponsorship status for two (2) consecutive years, or a three hundred thousand US dollars (US$300,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required to keep this sponsorship status for three (3) consecutive year.
-
For non-profit entities the same type of sponsorship, is available for one tenth of the above cost, i.e., twelve thousand US dollars (US$12,000) for one (1) year of sponsorship, twenty two thousand US dollars (US$22,000) for two (2) consecutive years, and thirty thousand US dollars (US$30,000) for three (3) consecutive years.

2. Section Site Sponsors --are those sponsors interested in supporting one of the five (5) sections of our Academia Exchange site: the Colloquia and Seminars section; the Conferences and Symposia section; the Faculty and Research Openings section; the Professional Organizations section; or the Nature Expos section.

- For profit entities, a ninety thousand US dollars (US$90,000) tax-deductible contribution is required for the annual sponsorship of one such section, a one hundred fifty thousand US dollars (US$150,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required to keep this sponsorship status for two (2) consecutive years, or a two hundred ten thousand US dollars (US$210,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required to keep this sponsorship status for three (3) consecutive years.
-
For non-profit entities the same type of sponsorship, is available for one tenth of the above cost, i.e., nine thousand US dollars (US$9,000) for one (1) year of sponsorship, fifteen thousand US dollars (US$15,000) for two (2) consecutive years, and twenty one thousand US dollars (US$21,000) for three (3) consecutive years of sponsorship.

3. Project Sponsors --are those interested in sponsoring a particular project within a particular section. For instance, we can have a sponsor or sponsors interested in supporting, say, the Natural History Museums for a particular country or a particular region. Or we can have sponsors interested in promoting say biochemistry through our various listings such as the academic job opportunities, the professional organizations, conferences and symposia, etc.

- For profit entities, a fifty thousand US dollars (US$50,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required for this type of annual sponsorship which can be renewed at will. An eighty thousand US dollars (US$80,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required for this type of sponsorship for two (2) consecutive years, and a one hundred ten thousand US dollars (US$110,000) tax-deductible/qualifying contribution is required to keep this sponsorship for three (3) consecutive years.
-
For non-profit entities, one tenth of the above charges applies, i.e., respectively, five thousand US dollars (US$5,000) for one (1) year, eight thousand US dollars (US$8,000) for two (2) years, and eleven thousand US dollars (US$11,000) for three (3) years.
NOTE: A Sponsor's anonymity, when requested, shall be respected and protected with stringency as there shall be no situation when an anonymous Sponsor's name shall be revealed, without the Sponsor's express written consent.
